In Progress...

Back in undergrad, part of the capstone class we all had to take in order to graduate was to develop an artist's statement. I had an enormously hard time with this, and often wondered how those that were able to write one could do it so easily. I threw something together that was simultaneously incoherent and hilariously amateur. It fulfilled the requirements, and for the past few years, it also existed on this website.

I am not the same artist I was. I am always learning, I am always adapting, and I am always trying to find new ways to get my ideas out of my brain and into a place where they can be seen and felt.

Ultimately, I couldn't tell you exactly why I do what I do.

I've wondered if this makes me a bad artist, or an artist without vision. There's a lot of conceptual art out there and I can safely say that my work exists well outside of that realm. So what does that make it? Is it just stuff?

When I figure that out, I'll make sure to write it down.
